GEO ICE facility protest - Aurora, CO - November 10 2025
Protest at the GEO ICE holding facility in Aurora Colorado - November 10 2025
About 70 or so people showed up, after sunset, at the GEO ICE Detainment center in north Aurora Colorado on the evening of November 10, 2025.
They came out with trumpets, bugles, pots and pans, and drums. Their goal was to sing , chant, and make music loud enough for the detainees inside to hear.
With intention to communicate to those imprisoned inside the privately owned GEO facility, that they are not alone, that they are not forgotten, and that outside supporters are standing with them.
The organizers provided empty 5 Gallon Home Depot branded orange plastic buckets, as well as drumsticks to used as improvised drums. Turn them upside-down and pound on them and they made a great, loud, improvised drum.
This allow the attendees to meet the rhythm of the performing band and singers, banging out loud rhythms.
A rhythm that was proud, and that you could feel in your chest, the vibrations pounding from dozens of drummers playing at once.
Brass band "Notes of Dissent" belted out rallying songs and dozens of participants chanted and drummed their impromptu instruments, dozens of voices speaking and singing together as one,
Their song and chants were unified, hopeful and loud. Hopefully loud enough to reach the ears of the soles detained in the ICE facility.
Loud enough to let them know that they are not alone. Loud enough that they may hear that people on the outside have not forgotten them. Perhaps, even loud enough to give them hope.
