My name is Travis Vowell, I’m a photographer from Denver, Colorado.

I have been taking photos for over 24 years now.
I learned photography as a teenager on an old film camera. Back then; it took days to weeks to see the results of your photos.
There was no digital online Instagram sharing back then. To share your photos you had to make a photographic print in a dark-room and then hand it to someone.
Printing a photo was a costly and laborious process, you only did it after careful consideration and planning.
This deliberate, trial-and-error, slow-motion process of photography taught me the fundamentals of what makes a good photograph. It taught me the art of photography.
I learned why and how photography is truly an art, what is a good photo and what it a bad photo. I experienced how to be good and how to make stunning photographs.
This took me years of nuanced learning, but I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything.

It’s been a while since my old film and darkroom days.
I now take photos using advanced professional digital cameras and the sharpest, most optically correct lenses. I only use carefully selected camera and lens systems that are best suited to my artistic vision. I then edited my photos in top-of-the-line photo editing software powered by the latest computer hardware and cloud computing systems.

But these technological things are useless without the eye, the experience, and the understanding, and the vision of the art of photography.

I use these incredible technological photographic tools to apply my years of experience, my trained and nuanced eye, and most of all; my understanding and conceptualization of what makes a good photo.
I can apply all these things for you, I can use them when taking your photo. To makes something incredible, and visually distinctive, and most of all noteworthy. Something that you, your family and your decedents will look at and respect and be enamored with.

Taking photos come natural to me. I always have a camera on me, looking for that moment that needs to be captured. “Why is this moment important”? “Why do we need to remember”? “What is happening here?” “Why are we here?”

I see photography as important because:
History only happens once.

I’ve studied and practiced at portraiture, family, and event photography.
